Above Surface Decontamination

There are many ways to remove Above Surface Contaminants. Clay bar is a piece of Polymer-Based Clay which is specially made for removing Above Surface Contaminants that have settled on your paint. These Above Surface Contaminants will not be washed away by regular Car Washing (No matter how hard you scrub!). For as long as they are allowed to remain on your car’s paint, they BLOCK the Shine away.

There are many types of Above Surface Contaminants: Road Tar, Paint Over-Spray (Water-Based or Oil Based), Industrial Fallout (Iron-Based), Brake Dust (Iron-Based) and Etc. You could think of it this way: As your vehicle is driven on the road next to other vehicles which are constantly using their brakes, where do you think those shape pieces of Brake Dust are going? For lack of a better word, they Pierced into your vehicle’s paint. That’s just one type of Contaminants.

In Extreme Cases, a Below Surface Decontamination is necessary because those Iron-Based Contaminants are rusting and damaging the paint. In case you are wondering, rust is like Cancer to paint – it spreads and damages the paint over time! It’s just not a good thing!

Before And After Using a Clay Bar on Contaminated Paint

Above Surface Decontamination is extremely important in Auto Detailing. It makes the paint surface silky smooth (if you run your finger over the paint after, that is how it feels like!) and contaminant-free.

Gloss Comes from Smoothness!

By doing so, it will allow Wax // Sealant // Coating to adhere to the paint better for longer protection as Wax // Sealant // Coating were made to stick to the paint, not contaminant! That’s right! Any Wax // Sealant // Coating that was applied onto contaminant would be washed off the next time you wash the Vehicle.

Protection from Coating

In addition, Above Surface Decontamination also prepares the paint surface for Machine Paint Polishing / Correction. You would not want those tiny pieces of Contaminants to be spinning on your paint. That is the same as rubbing sand on your car’s paint!
